Summer Festivals In Oakville!

The hazy, crazy days of summer are upon us and there’s certainly lots to do in Oakville this summer. Here are a few of the events happening around town that involve good food, music, family fun and shopping. Pop by and enjoy the outdoors!

Downtown Oakville Sidewalk Sale

Thursday June 09th to Sunday June 12: 10:00a.m.-6:00p.m.

This is the 43rd annual downtown sidewalk sale. With six blocks of participating vendors all offering great sales, stop by or make a day of it. You can take a break for lunch, enjoy the heritage buildings or enjoy some pampering at one of the spas - all while getting incredible deals!

Handmade and Vintage Market

Saturday June 11th: 10:00a.m. -3:00p.m.

Kerr Village showcases the creativity and diversity of handmade, vintage and food entrepreneurs. Vendors sell handmade jewelry, glass knick-knacks, vintage clothing and records and great food!

Mayors Historical Picnic

Sunday June 12th: 12:00p.m.-4:30p.m.

An afternoon at Lakeside Park with live music, dancing and family fun. Bring a picnic lunch and some lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy the lake view while you listen to music.

Oakville Family Ribfest

Friday June 24th-Sunday June 26,2016

Sheridan College

Kick off the first official summer weekend at the largest event in Oakville. There’s a free Kids Play Zone area with bouncy castles. There’s also a Children’s Carnival with reasonably priced rides including a giant Ferris wheel. Oakville Trafalgar Rotary organizes this event and all profits go to helping the community with projects such as the Strawberry Social for elderly shut-ins and the Kerr Street Ministries Food Bank and community dinners. A great day of fun that helps our community as well.

Canada Day at Bronte

11:00a.m.-11:00p.m.

This free all-day family festival is a great celebration of Canadian pride. This year live music includes Guess Who and Supertramp tributes. The kids will love an “Aladdin” show, bouncy castles and the spectacular fireworks show.

Oakville Children’s Festival

Saturday July 10th: 10:00am-4:00pm

Coronation Park

Lisa Loeb will be performing at this annual festival. Magicians and many other performances will keep things rocking all day. There are lots of interactive activities such as art, bubble soccer, archery, beach volleyball, a skateboard ramp, face painting; no time for boredom here! In between sports and songs and activities you can get lunch at one of the many food trucks. Festival admission is free.

2016 RBC Canadian Open

Monday July18th-Sunday July24th: 8:00am-6:00pm

Glen Abbey Golf Club

Steeped in history and tradition this championship hosts many of the best golfers in the world.

Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival

Friday August 05th-Saturday August 06h.

Celebrating its 24th year, this festival is a great family event. This free event showcases over a dozen bands on several stages throughout the downtown. The festival explores jazz in all its roots and branches including Latin jazz, Dixieland, Ragtime, Swing, the Blues and more. You can enjoy the downtown patios for a great meal while you listen to music.

So in between vacations and time at the cottage, plan to enjoy an outdoor summer festival in town. Summer season is in full session in Oakville - enjoy!
